How it runs

From enquiry to completion

  1. Enquiry. Send the requirement with location, timing and site details.
  2. Scope. We confirm what is involved, who is required and what it will cost.
  3. Written confirmation. Scope, rate, timing and safety notes agreed before anything starts.
  4. Execution. Execution is carried out by an appropriate independent specialist provider, with PRESTA coordinating the scope and completion record.
  5. Record. Job card, photographs where relevant and completion confirmation.

What is fabricated and what is coordinated

Site fabrication and repair

Grilles, gates, railings, frames, brackets, supports, gratings, covers, ladders and platforms. Repair and modification of existing steelwork.

Coordinated through specialists

Structural fabrication requiring certification, pressure work, machining, casting, and anything needing a qualification we do not hold. Arranged and coordinated, not carried out.

Where a licence or certification is required, we say so. Taking on structural or certified work without the qualification would be the wrong answer, and the customer usually finds out at the worst moment.

What to send for a fabrication enquiry

Dimensions

Measured, not estimated. Where it fits into an existing opening, the opening size and whether it is square.

Material and section

MS, SS or GI. Section sizes if specified, or the load it carries so a section can be proposed.

Finish

Primer only, painted, galvanised or powder coated. Coastal exposure changes the answer.

Photographs

Of the location, and of anything being matched or replaced.

Fixing

What it fixes to — masonry, concrete, existing steel — and whether that is sound.

Access

Whether it can be brought in assembled or has to be made in sections and joined on site.

Galvanised or powder coated near the sea, every time. Painted MS on a coastal property starts rusting at the welds within a season, and the repair costs more than the finish would have.
